Specialized OCD & Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety Therapy Red Bank
Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)

I-CBT is a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed specifically for treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.  I-CBT targets the reasoning process that leads individuals with OCD to form and maintain their obsessive beliefs.

Components of I-CBT

Psychoeducation: Education about OCD, the concept of inferential confusion, and where you may confuse imagined scenarios with reality.

Identifying Faulty Inferences
: Learn how to recognize specific moments when normal thought processes turn into obsessive doubts.

Challenging Faulty Reasoning: Learn strategies to question and correct their irrational thoughts by examining evidence and trusting their direct perceptions.

Reconstructing the Narrative: Learn how to create more accurate and evidence-based interpretations of situations that trigger OCD symptoms.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
: Sometimes integrated into I-CBT, this involves being exposing to anxiety-provoking situations without performing compulsions, and instead practicing new reasoning skills.

These components work together to help you understand and change the thought processes that drive OCD, leading to reduced symptoms and improved management of the disorder.
